Driven by a life-long commitment to improving Canadians’ health and well-being, Ms. Fralick has applied her skills as a strategist, communicator and consensus builder to senior leadership roles in Canada’s leading health and advocacy organizations. Currently working as a consultant in executive leadership and as a board director, she previously held president/CEO roles at Innovative Medicines Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Healthcare Association (now HealthCareCAN), the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, the Collegium of Work and Learning and the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction, and she also worked in the federal government.
Ms. Fralick holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and psychology, a Master of Arts degree in developmental psychology from Carleton University and a Master of Public Administration from Queen’s University. She also holds an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and has studied non-profit strategy at Harvard University. In her early clinical work with the Canadian Armed Forces, she attained certification as an alcoholism treatment specialist. In recognition of her dedication as a founding board member and chair at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, a lecture was created in her name, and a tree planted on the grounds in her honour.
The power of collaboration is central to all that Ms. Fralick undertakes. Her peers have asked her to chair many coalitions, including the Health Charities Coalition of Canada, the Health Action Lobby and the Canadian Coalition for Public Health in the 21st Century. She has also been a volunteer member of 19 boards, including those of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, the University of Ottawa Institute of Mental Health Research, the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer, the Canada Dance Festival, Triathlon Canada and the International Triathlon Union. Her current board commitments include Outward Bound International, D2R (DNA to RNA), Queen’s University’s School of Policy Studies and the Global Advisory Committee for the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education.
